If Content is King, Who Is A Queen?

Today is a big celebration in the Netherlands – King’s Day! Here and there you here words “King” and “Queen”.  Let’s think what these words mean in the Marketing world. In January 1996, Bill Gates wrote an essay titled “Content is King”, which was published on the Microsoft website. He begins by saying: “Content is where I expect much of the real money will be made on the Internet, just as it was in broadcasting.” Needless to say, Gates was right in his predictions. Content is what drives the Internet as we know it. But the biggest mistake marketers make in the world of social engagement is expecting hundreds of followers when they put up a new piece of content. Getting your voice heard online often feels like trying to talk in an overcrowded room. So how does your brand rise above the noise? Nowadays, the scarce resource in the content marketing world...

Google’s “Mobile-Friendly” Update

On April 21, 2015 Google rolled out the “mobile-friendly” update. The idea is to boost the ranking of mobile-friendly pages on mobile search results. “Mobile-friendly” pages are the pages that are legible and usable on mobile devices – in mobile search results worldwide. (Conversely, pages designed for only large screens may see a significant decrease in rankings in mobile search results.) Now users can more easily find high-quality and relevant results where text is readable without tapping or zooming, tap targets are spaced appropriately, and the page avoids unplayable content or horizontal scrolling. This update: – Affects only search rankings on mobile devices. This update has no effect on searches from tablets or desktops. Real-Time Marketing Is Now Right-Time Marketing

Real Time Marketing is marketing that is based on up to date events. Instead of creating a marketing plan in advance and executing it according to a fixed schedule, real time marketing is creating a strategy focused on current, relevant trends and immediate feedback from customers. The goal of real time marketing is to connect consumers with the product or service that they need now, in the moment. But something delivered at right time doesn’t have to be created in real time! It’s time for the conversation about real-time marketing to move on. It’s not that the conversation is over. Rather, it’s that real-time marketing needs to evolve into something bigger and more important than simply sending out catchy posts timed to news events. For example: Today is the jubilee 35th edition of NN Rotterdam Marathon. You do not know yet who is the winner, but you can already prepare your post...
