Longer Video on Instagram: 60 sec vs 15 sec

Instagram video length will be prolonged from 15 seconds to 60 seconds. This is a fun, flexible and creative way to create and watch video on Instagram. In the last six months, the time people spent watching video increased by more than 40 percent. And longer videos mean more diverse stories from the accounts you love, whether it’s Selena Gomez hanging out with friends or beauty star Bretman Rock’s latest makeup tutorial. Now everybody can tell a story using a video. For iOS, they’re also bringing back the ability to make videos out of multiple clips from your camera roll. To learn more about multi-clip video on iOS, check out this Step-by-Step manual: How do I upload a video with multiple video clips? This feature is currently only available on iOS. Instagram Update: Date & Time

Instagram Update: Date & Time

Now you can see the exact month, day and year your images and videos were posted on Instagram. Every social media manager I know is doing cartwheels over this update. To see your timestamps, simply go to the App Store and update to the latest version of Instagram. You should have version 7.17.1 or later. Prior to now, Instagram only showed the number of weeks it had been since the videos or photos were posted. Now, instead of “52w” at the top right corner of the post, the full date (4 February or November 25, 2015, for example) is listed under the comments. This is a very valuable update for online marketers and those who work in the marketing industry. When we’re tracking data or pulling information for clients and projects we need to know the exact date then it was posted. Knowing that something happened 52 weeks ago is pretty useless. An exact...

The Most Social Astronaut

The Most Social Astronaut Scott Kelly Returns Safely to Earth after One-Year Mission. Scott Kelly landed in Kazakhstan at 11:26 p.m. EST (10:26 a.m. March 2, 2016 Kazakhstan time), on a capsule carrying two other companions from the International Space Station: Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko, who also spent 340 days in space, and Sergey Volkov, another Russian cosmonaut who has been in space for five and a half months. During this time, Kelly has shared with the public an unprecedented view of what he’s seen while rotating Earth aboard the International Space Station. Before Kelly went up for his mission, the astronaut was given direct order from President Barack Obama during the 2015 State of the Union address: “Make sure to Instagram it.” The result of that order? Kelly soon became an expert social-media user, uploading awesome images of high quality photography nearly every day to Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr and Facebook. The astronaut...

Facebook Has Rolled Out 5 New Reactions Buttons

A big change on Facebook: the Social Network built alternatives to its trademark ”like” button, and has globally launched emoji “Reactions.” Users can still respond to a post or comment with the traditional “like” button. But starting February 24, 2016, users are allowed to choose from six different animated emoji “Reactions”: Like, Love, Haha, Wow Sad or Angry. “Reactions” are designed to be an extension of the “like” button as opposed to a full-on replacement. Users will be notified when their posts receive ”Reactions” in the same way they’re notified about “likes.” Facebook said in its latest blog post that it wanted to give users more authentic ways to quickly and easily respond to posts, whether they are sad, serious, funny or happy”: The new reactions appear when you hover over Like on a PC, or hold it down on mobile or tablet. Last September, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg publicly announced the company’s push to expand emoji past the “like” option. “Not every...

OUR 20TH CENTURY DATA HANGOVER AND THE CURE

Business development and marketing programs have a tendency to underwhelm when it comes to actual results. As a result, we’re bombarded with SalesTech and MarTech apps endeavouring to plug those leaks. What are the real reasons for these lacklustre results? 1. OUTDATED CLASSIFICATION The system for classifying companies (SIC codes) was designed post-World War II. It’s of no relevance to the digital economy or modern ways of doing business. RESULT Up to 1/3 of all businesses are classified as ‘other’, and many more are misclassified. 2. SUBJECTIVE LEAD SCORING STILL EXISTS Guesstimating who might convert on a particular piece of content based on misguided ‘personas’ is not a system that’s delivered for B2Bs in the past couple of years. RESULT Too much focus on content conversion and not enough focus on which prospects are most likely to become customers. 3.  TREATING ALL POSSIBLE SWEET-SPOT TARGETS THE SAME Sure, your prospects have...

Room the Movie: She Has Made The Living Hell a Fairytale

How many tears can a girl cry? – this thought kept crossing my mind while I was watching the movie Room at the International Film Festival in Rotterdam in February 2016. Room the movie begins with the quiet sound of breathing, images of a scratched wall, a skylight and the whispered words: “Go back to sleep…” This is the 3 m x 3 m sealed enclosure in which five-year-old Jack (Jacob Tremblay) lives with his Mom, whom he calls “Ma” (Brie Larson). Slowly, bit by bit, the story of Room the movie is revealed to us. Ma “Larson” was abducted at the age of 17 and kept in the backyard shed of her kidnapper. Two years later she gave a birth to a boy who turns 5 years old at the beginning of the movie. We see the room through the eyes of this little man. And this 3×3 room seems...

5 Steps to Success with Social Selling

What is Social Selling? Selling has always been (and always will be) social. Social media hasn’t fundamentally changed the game of sales, but it certainly has amplified it, connected it, and distributed it further than we ever thought possible. Social networks give wider reach and power to even the smallest business, and create an avenue for sales and marketing staff to connect to their client base as individuals, on a personal level. The term “social selling” encompasses both the research and interaction that happens online during the sales process. Salespeople can use social media to research critical information about companies, trends, and market changes that might produce opportunities. They can learn things about likely buyers that are hard to find elsewhere. What are the interests of those prospects? Their likes, their dislikes? What are they reading and sharing? When you know a few things about someone, you have a more...
