Notify App: Facebook is Strengthening its Dominance Over Online Media

Facebook is preparing its latest push into online media with a new standalone app called Notify that is scheduled to launch soon, with content from dozens of media publishers including Mashable, The Washington Post, Billboard, CNN and CBS. Financial Times notes that the app is moving forward after positive feedback from publishers about Facebook’s Instant Articles product. Apple has also shown interest in the sector with September’s launch of its new News aggregator app.  Twitter recently rolled out Moments, a feed for mobile users to explore the top news of the moment. Meanwhile, despite suspending its own Snap Channel last month, Snapchat still has Discover partners like Comedy Central and Vice backing it, along with its own news division. Competition is only going to heat up from here.

Twitter Storytelling Tools: Collections API

Growing an audience and retaining customers for any app or website can be very challenging. To keep your users engaged, you need rich and unique content that tells a compelling story. Today at Flight, we introduced an ecosystem of tools that all work together to help you seamlessly find, organize, and publish those stories on your apps and websites. You’ve already seen this ecosystem in action: we use it to publish Moments on Twitter. And you may already be using some of the individual tools we’re talking about, such as TweetDeck and Curator. Today we announced a new Collections API that turns multiple Tweets into a single story with a single Collection ID,...

New Video Chat Blab Where You Can Switch Places With The Host

There it is! The app and the website Blab.im, where four people can video chat simultaneously. The audience can watch live, comment and instantly switch places with video chatters. Read this blog post to learn how you can strengthen your social media identity via blab. To participle as a video chatter in one of the squares — which I can’t help thinking looks like a 21st century Brady Bunch panel (translation = very fun) — you sign in with your Twitter credentials. Afterwards, when someone clicks on your name in Blab, they see the handle and bio you’ve already entered on your Twitter bio. When a new video chatter attempts to join the four-person chat, the creator of a Blab can choose to accept or deny entry. And as the video chat plays out, the moderator can let the live chat disappear into the ether when it’s over, or hit...

Five hours and more than 5,000 anxious comments later the Layout App is available in Apple’s App Store.   It was a big tension when more than 5.000 Instagram followers were trying to download it but could not find it in the App Store. But finally it is here! I’ve just got it and made a beautiful collage above in it! Fast and easy!!! As you choose photos from your camera roll, they automatically show you previews of custom layouts. You’ll find a Faces option that shows you all of your photos that feature people. From there, you have total artistic control. Drag and drop photos to rearrange them, pinch to zoom or pull the sides of each photo to adjust its size. Then flip and rotate...
