Now you can see the exact month, day and year your images and videos were posted on Instagram. Every social media manager I know is doing cartwheels over this update. To see your timestamps, simply go to the App Store and update to the latest version of Instagram. You should have version 7.17.1 or later. Prior to now, Instagram only showed the number of weeks it had been since the videos or photos were posted. Now, instead of “52w” at the top right corner of the post, the full date (4 February or November 25, 2015, for example) is listed under the comments. This is a very valuable update for online marketers and those who work in the marketing industry. When we’re tracking data or pulling information for clients and projects we need to know the exact date then it was posted. Knowing that something happened 52 weeks ago is pretty useless. An exact...

What is Social Selling? Selling has always been (and always will be) social. Social media hasn’t fundamentally changed the game of sales, but it certainly has amplified it, connected it, and distributed it further than we ever thought possible. Social networks give wider reach and power to even the smallest business, and create an avenue for sales and marketing staff to connect to their client base as individuals, on a personal level. The term “social selling” encompasses both the research and interaction that happens online during the sales process. Salespeople can use social media to research critical information about companies, trends, and market changes that might produce opportunities. They can learn things about likely buyers that are hard to find elsewhere. What are the interests of those prospects? Their likes, their dislikes? What are they reading and sharing? When you know a few things about someone, you have a more...

December typically entails some last-minute Christmas shopping, finalizing plans to see family and friends, and – for the marketers – breaking through all that hassle in the effort to reach out to customers. From Christmas to New Years, there’s a lot going on and you need to maximize your brand’s potential during this time. Consider the following 6 tips for mastering Social Media Campaigns over the holidays. Leverage Emotions The holiday season is emotionally charged on so many different levels. As a Social Media Manager, posting to Instagram is part of daily work. Before now, that meant signing out of my personal account in order to sign into the account for work, which is not only inconvenient but also a little anxiety-inducing—the ease with which I might accidentally post to the wrong account is all too scary a possibility. My clients’ 10K followers do not need to see my latest selfie with a new hairstyle. Finally, Instagram is making our social media-addled lives a little bit easier. With the latest update, the app is introducing a new feature that allows users to toggle between multiple accounts without logging in and out. Instagram Now Offers Multiple Account Support Currently, the feature appears to be in beta testing mode and only available to a limited number of Android users. Instagram has not said whether this feature will be expanding, or when it...

Google offers a ton of tools in addition to its search engine that can be hugely valuable if you’re a marketer. So I decided to round up some of the most essential Google marketing tools so you can be sure your business is taking full advantage of all Google has to offer. 1) Google My Business All you have to do is claim your Google My Business listing (formerly known as Google Places), and your business can get featured in the search results (as well as in Google Maps) for local searches like the one pictured below. Check it out — all the businesses within the red call-out in the screenshot below are local Google My Business results for the search “mexican restaurant, boston.” Best of all, unlike Google AdWords (which we’ll touch on later), none of those businesses paid for their positions in these local results. 2) Google+ Business Pages With the death...

Econsultancy in partnership with Adobe has published 2015 Digital Trends report. More than 6,000 business professionals with an interest in digital business took part in this year’s survey. Customer experience is seen as the standout imperative for 2015 and beyond, with 22% saying it is the single most exciting opportunity this year. There is now daylight between CX and content marketing, which is still undoubtedly in the ascendancy but some distance behind with 15% of the vote. As has been identified by Econsultancy analysts in the report, other areas of focus such as data-driven business, personalization, mobile and crosschannel marketing are all vitally important for business success in their own right but their roles are ultimately subordinate to an organization’s over-arching efforts to ensure that the customer experience is a good one. Strategy and culture are widely identified in all corners of the world as the most important building blocks for a...
